London Marathon
Subject to the club meeting the requirements, we are usually offered at least one place in the TCS London Marathon (TCSLM) each year. Club members may enter a draw to receive this place according to the current club rules and draw guidelines, a full copy of which may be found on our Join and Membership Info page. The rules and guidelines are also listed below for your convenience but be advised that in the event of any discrepancy, the current club rules PDF is definitive.
Club Rules Relating to London Marathon Club Places
8. London Marathon Club Places
a) To be eligible for the draw for the London Marathon club places, an entrant must have been a fully paid up member of the club for at least 6 months at the time of the draw and remain a paid up member in the year for which the London Marathon place is valid.
b) Entrants must be in receipt of an official rejection letter from the London Marathon draw for the year of the club draw.
c) All entrants into the draw must have ‘Cruisers Running Club’ as their first claim club.
d) To be eligible for each respective round of the draw, an entrant must also meet the criteria detailed in the “Guidelines - Draw for London Marathon Club Places”.
e) Runners who are successful in the club draw are representatives of ‘Cruisers Running Club’ and must run under that name.
f) Guidelines on the procedures for the club draw are reproduced below.
g) Should any dispute arise regarding the draw, the decision of the Chairman will be final unless the Chairman has entered the draw in which case the next most senior Committee position member present not participating in the draw will have the final decision.
Guidelines - Draw for London Marathon Club Places

1. The Honorary Secretary, or his representative, will apply for London Marathon (LM) club places in accordance with current LM rules.
2. Eligible CRC members may apply to enter the club draw for LM club places. To be eligible, applicants must have been:
a. fully paid up members of CRC for at least 6 months
b. in receipt of an official current rejection document from the LM organisation.
3. In accordance to the decision made by members at the AGM on 13th March 2018 a CRC member meeting the standard eligibility criteria in clause 2 above, will be disallowed from entry into the CRC draw if that member had received the CRC VMLM place in either of the previous two year’s events unless there were no other qualifying entries to the CRC draw. i.e. the winner of the Club place draw in December 2017 (to run VMLM in 2018) would therefore be disallowed from entry into the CRC draw until the draw in December 2020 (to run VMLM in 2021) unless there were no other qualifying entries.
4. The date of the draw and the closing date for receipt of applications will be advertised on the CRC notice board.
5. Applicants may register by timely submission of their rejection documents to a committee member.
6. The draw will take place during a CRC event, conducted by an impartial committee member, or someone appointed by the committee.
a. Official rejection documents will be sealed in identical supplied envelopes.
b. Runners and reserves will be drawn, applicants advised and the order of the draw recorded.
7. Should club places remain after the draw from qualified applicants, a second draw may be held, extended to applicants who meet the standard eligibility criteria but who were disallowed from the first draw only because of clause 3 above.
8. Should club places remain after the second draw from qualified applicants, a third draw may be held, extended to applicants from fully paid-up club members who do not have rejection documents from the LM organisation.
9. Applicants who gain club places are responsible for registering for the LM and must:
a. be fully paid up members of CRC for the year when they run the LM.
b. run under the name of ‘Cruisers Running Club’.
